Coping with Conflict was a curriculum development project funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).

The project was been designed by Sue Davidson and Richard Thurley from Devon Development Education and Bernie Ashmore

Devon Development Education seeks to promote the global dimension to education. It is responsible for delivering a series of projects and programmes to schools and colleges throughout Devon, Torbay and Plymouth.

Bernie Asmore ran Inspiring Learning, an education and training consultancy based at Dartington, Totnes. Bernie was previously Oxfam Development Education Adviser and Enfield LEA Adviser for Humanities.

This exciting project offered the opportunity to explore conflict and its impact from the personal to the global and used a Thinking Skills or Philosophy for Children approach. There was the opportunity for teachers and pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of the issues through interaction and discussion with peers in Northern Uganda, Hebron and an urban area of the UK.
